Membership Guide
Membership Guide
We understand—membership handbooks, user guidelines, and terms & conditions aren’t exactly exciting. But you know what’s worse? Health insurance. That’s why we’re shaking things up. With CrowdCare, we’re making your member experience refreshingly simple and genuinely helpful.
This guide gives you everything you need to know about being part of CrowdCare.
What is CrowdCare?
Finding and funding healthcare shouldn’t feel confusing or overwhelming. That’s why CrowdCare exists—to redefine the healthcare experience with our Members.
With your CrowdCare Membership, you gain access to a crowdfunding platform, a supportive community, and resources to help you navigate healthcare costs without traditional insurance. Plus, you’ll receive personalized support along the way.
As a CrowdCare Member, you become a self-pay patient, cutting out the health insurance middleman. While you remain responsible for paying your own medical bills, you’ll cover smaller expenses yourself while submitting larger ones to the Crowd for funding. At the same time, you’ll contribute to funding other Members’ larger expenses.
By leveraging the power of consumerism and self-pay, CrowdCare Members access lower healthcare costs while avoiding exorbitant insurance premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums. This means saving thousands every year while enjoying true healthcare freedom.
And the best part? We’re constantly improving our app and resources to make your life easier.
CrowdCare is a Caring Community
At CrowdCare, you’re never alone.
We’re building a community of like-minded, responsible, and generous individuals who support one another in navigating and affording healthcare.
Your Care Advocate is here to provide compassionate, personalized guidance, whether it’s helping you find high-quality, fairly priced care or assisting you with the complexities of the healthcare system.
CrowdCare Provides Access to Care
Need care? CrowdCare makes it easy.
For a low monthly fee, you gain access to:
- A dedicated Care Advocate
- Discounted cash-pay rates
- Prescription savings
- Bill negotiation support
- A 24/7 virtual care platform via our app
We help you find top-notch cash-pay-friendly providers in your area. If you already have a preferred doctor, great! There are no restrictive doctor networks—just a shared expectation that Members make smart healthcare choices.
Plus, your Membership includes discounted prescription pricing, all available through the CrowdCare app.
CrowdCare is Crowdfunding
Each month, Members contribute to crowdfunding healthcare costs by paying a Monthly Fee. As medical expenses arise, CrowdCare distributes these funds to help cover eligible bills for fellow Members.
Who is the Crowd?
The power of CrowdCare lies in our community—our Members, known as “The Crowd.” Together, we’re building something better than trying to manage healthcare costs alone.
CrowdCare Members are:
- Savvy and Generous – Looking for high-quality healthcare at a fair price while supporting others in the community.
- Like-Minded and Health-Aware – Seeking a transparent, simplified healthcare alternative while staying engaged with their own health.
- Responsible and Accountable – Committed to paying their monthly contributions, submitting only necessary medical expenses, and making informed healthcare choices.
If you share these values, you’ll fit right in! If you’re looking to exploit the system without contributing fairly—well, this probably isn’t the place for you.
CrowdCare welcomes Members of all ages (babies through 64) and various health backgrounds, with clear and transparent terms on how funding works for pre-existing conditions. Our goal is to ensure fairness and confidence in how healthcare expenses are shared.
CrowdCare’s Guiding Principles
We created CrowdCare because we know the traditional healthcare system can feel expensive, confusing, and isolating. Our solution is built on four core values:
- Simplicity – No more complex insurance jargon. Just straightforward steps to access and fund healthcare.
- Affordability – Members use self-pay power and negotiation to secure fair prices.
- Community – A collective effort to create a better healthcare system together.
- Quality – Access to high-quality care without overpaying.
With CrowdCare, you’re part of a healthcare revolution—one that’s built for you, by people who care.
We’re excited to have you with us! The Crowd is stronger because you’re here.
Navigating Healthcare with Confidence
Your healthcare journey shouldn’t leave you feeling lost or unsure about who to trust. With CrowdCare, you have the support of a transparent, reliable community that always has your back.
Quality Care, Your Way
Support isn’t just a buzzword at CrowdCare—it’s the foundation of everything we do. Our dedicated Member Care Advocates ensure you receive a high-quality experience with:
No Doctor Networks (Really!)
CrowdCare doesn’t restrict your choices with limited provider networks. You’re free to continue seeing your preferred doctor, or if you need help finding a high-quality provider, your Care Advocate is ready to assist.
For planned procedures, CrowdCare helps Members connect with cash-pay-friendly providers whenever possible. This keeps costs fair for both you and the Crowd. Read more in the How CrowdCare Works section.
True Healthcare Freedom
At CrowdCare, you can access the care you need—when you need it—without being tied to expensive, restrictive insurance plans.
Technology That Works for You
We’re constantly improving our app and resources to simplify your healthcare journey—making things easier, not harder.
How CrowdCare Works
Not Health Insurance—And That’s a Good Thing
People often ask, “How is CrowdCare so much more affordable than health insurance?” The answer is simple: CrowdCare isn’t insurance. Instead, it’s a platform, a community, and a toolkit designed to help you find and fund your healthcare—without the complications of insurance.
Through our crowdfunding system, Members contribute to and receive funding for eligible medical expenses. However, since CrowdCare is not insurance, we cannot guarantee that every bill will be fully funded. Ultimately, Members remain responsible for their own medical costs.
What Members Pay
Monthly Membership Fee
Instead of expensive insurance premiums, CrowdCare Members pay a low monthly fee. This grants access to cash-pay resources, specialized support, and participation in crowdfunding for medical expenses.
Understanding Crowdfunding Contributions
- When a Member turns 55, the maximum monthly crowdfunding contribution increases to $265.
- At age 64, Members will receive guidance on transitioning out of CrowdCare before turning 65, when Membership ends.
Planned Procedures & Cost Transparency
Before scheduling diagnostics, lab work, imaging, or other planned services, Members should contact their Care Advocate. We’ll help you find the best prices and may even provide a discount voucher. If a Member chooses a provider without consulting CrowdCare and the cost exceeds 120% of our negotiated rates, it may result in account penalties or closure.
CrowdCare considers fair market rates when determining eligible funding, taking into account:
- Recent crowdfunded procedures in your region,
- Negotiated discounts and single-case agreements,
- Availability of alternative providers within reasonable distances,
- Urgency and necessity of care.
For Members traveling to a provider recommended by CrowdCare, related expenses like airfare, lodging, and meals may also be eligible for crowdfunding.
Family Memberships
Family Memberships are available for households with four Members. Eligibility includes:
- A parent under 64 with two children under 25.
- Two parents (living together) under 64 with two children under 25.
- Four or more siblings under 25.
Member Commitments Instead of Deductibles
Unlike traditional insurance, CrowdCare has no annual deductibles.
With insurance, you might pay $3,000, $5,000, or even $10,000+ before coverage kicks in—plus ongoing co-pays and out-of-pocket costs.
With CrowdCare, you only pay a $500 Member Commitment per health event. The Crowd then funds the rest of the eligible expenses—without any cap on the number of submissions.
What Counts as a Health Event?
A health event includes all related expenses for a particular medical issue. Examples:
- Major Event: A knee surgery (doctor’s visits, surgery, anesthesia, rehab, prescriptions).
- Minor Event: A pediatric visit and medication for strep throat.
For minor health events where total costs are below $500, Members pay out-of-pocket. But for larger events, once you meet your $500 Member Commitment, the rest is eligible for crowdfunding.
For health events lasting longer than 12 months, the $500 Member Commitment resets in the 13th month.
Committed to Revenue Transparency
One of the biggest problems with traditional healthcare is misaligned financial incentives—insurance companies profit by increasing premiums and denying claims.
CrowdCare is different.
- Our revenue comes only from Membership Fees, not crowdfunding.
- We have zero incentive to deny funding for Member bills.
- We work to lower healthcare costs, not inflate them.
- Our goal? 100% of eligible expenses funded.
- We pay our team to help you negotiate better rates and organize care, the rest is used to pay for your healthcare costs.
We pay our team to negotiate better rates and organize care, ensuring Members receive fair pricing and quality treatment.
Getting Started with CrowdCare
New Member Orientation
Since CrowdCare works differently than insurance, we want every Member to be set up for success. That’s why Primary Members must complete a short orientation video and quiz when joining.
Initiating a Health Event
To qualify for crowdfunding, Members must start their health event through the CrowdCare app. A Care Advocate will assist with the process, ensuring the best possible experience.
Even for treatments below the $500 Member Commitment, initiating a request helps CrowdCare secure better pricing and support.
For family health events, separate requests must be made for each individual (e.g., both kids getting the flu require two separate submissions).
Choosing Your Doctor
CrowdCare does not restrict you to a provider network. You can continue seeing your existing doctors, or if needed, your Care Advocate can help find a top-quality provider in your area.
To qualify for crowdfunding, services must be provided by licensed or board-certified professionals.
A Better Way to Handle Healthcare
With CrowdCare, you get:
✅ Freedom to choose your providers.
✅ Lower costs through self-pay discounts and crowdfunding.
✅ A caring community supporting each other’s medical needs.
✅ Personalized guidance from Care Advocates.
✅ No complicated networks or restrictive plans.
Welcome to healthcare, reimagined—with transparency, affordability, and community at its core.
We’re glad you’re here.
To uphold the integrity of the crowdfunding process on behalf of the Crowd, Members should not knowingly or repeatedly visit a medical practitioner who is unreasonable or unfair in their billing rates and practices.
Submitting Your Bills & Receipts
When you receive a bill, scan it into the CrowdCare app and attach it to your health event. If your bill needs to be negotiated, we’ll coordinate with our partners to help you get the best discounts.
Once all necessary information is uploaded, we will review and submit approved bills for crowdfunding quickly and easily.
Handling Big Bills
The CrowdCare platform is designed to maximize the probability that all Members’ eligible bills can be fully crowdfunded.
For big, planned expenses (like surgeries), CrowdCare can make sure your estimate is good and find other options for care if necessary, oftentimes saving you 30-80%! Always contact your Care Advocate before a scheduled surgery to allow time for this negotiation.
For emergency expenses, CrowdCare provides specialized post-negotiation support to work down balances before they are paid, sometimes up to 95% off. Contact your Care Advocate before you pay a big bill for emergency care, so we can help.
Online Platform and Mobile App Access
As soon as you sign up for your CrowdCareMembership, you can download and log into the CrowdCare mobile app and will be able to access your Member Portal through the website. Because our app and portal contain information and tools that are reserved for active and oriented Members, you will not be able to utilize the full app functionality until your Membership start date. Please note that without access to our app via a smart device, you will not be able to utilize certain features of your CrowdCare Membership.
If you have any questions or issues with logging in or accessing the Member Portal or the CrowdCare mobile app, please email us, or call us directly.
Self-Pay Patient Status
CrowdCare isn’t insurance, so you do not have an ID card, Member number, or benefits group to submit on patient intake or other insurance-type forms. At any medical visit, you’ll just indicate that you are an uninsured, or "self-pay," patient.
Health Event Specifics
Annual Wellness
CrowdCare Members can submit up to $300 for ONE basic wellness event per year to be crowdfunded. This wellness event can be utilized for any one preventative or screening exam or test, performed by a licensed or board-certified practitioner.
The Crowd waives the $500 Member Commitment for one annual wellness event per Member (ages three and over). Annual wellness spending beyond this $300 crowdfunding threshold will be funded by the Member.
Please note that if after a basic wellness event, your doctor orders specialized diagnostics, imaging, additional lab work, or other follow-up care related to a new concern or acute condition identified at your wellness visit, that will initiate a new, separate health event and will be subject to the $500 Member Commitment.
Screening colonoscopies are valid health events and are separate from the basic wellness event described above. Expenses related to screening colonoscopy events can be navigated by your Care Advocate and submitted for crowdfunding when the $500 Member Commitment has been met. All other preventative care is the full responsibility of the Member and is not eligible for crowdfunding. Talk to your Care Advocate about how to make the most of your annual wellness health event.
Your wellness care must be completed by December 31 to apply for that calendar year.
Given the frequency of recommended well checks for our littlest Members, health events for Newborn and Children’s Wellness are treated differently up to three years of age. See “Caring For Your Family” below.
Scheduled (Non-Emergency) Care
For minor appointments, notify your doctor that you are a self-pay patient and pay the doctor at the time of your visit.
If your doctor requests labs, imaging, or other follow-up care, please get the orders from your doctor at your appointment and send them to your Care Advocate, who can help you navigate the next steps with high-quality care and fair pricing.
For major non-emergency care, such as a scheduled surgery, please contact a Care Advocate in advance. To validate potentially expensive and/or complex health events on behalf of the Crowd, CrowdCare may engage a trusted third party to provide clinical review and/or pre-negotiation services for procedures and treatments. A failure to notify CrowdCare before your scheduled health event, which prevents CrowdCare from performing appropriate due diligence and fair price comparison, may impact your Health Cost Score or eligibility for funding.
Emergency & Urgent Care
For all unplanned urgent or emergency care, inform your Care Advocate as soon as possible about the health event, so we can guide you through your health journey and offer you the best Member support possible.
When receiving urgent or emergency care, state that you are a self-pay patient and ask to be billed after your care. CrowdCare can facilitate negotiation on your behalf for emergency room bills before you pay them.
Prescriptions
For your prescriptions to be eligible for crowdfunding, you must use your prescription discount and choose a generic option if available when purchasing. You will show your RX discount card (accessible through your Member profile in the app) at the pharmacy to get the best price, pay at checkout, and submit the prescription receipt through the app for crowdfunding. Maintenance prescription drug costs eligible for crowdfunding are generally limited to a 120-day supply per valid health event.
Children’s Immunizations
For all children’s immunizations, you must use a Vaccines For Children (VFC) provider for any related expenses to be eligible for funding as part of the valid health event. Learn more under “Caring for Your Family,” below.
How It All Comes Together
To help you get a clearer idea of the Member experience, below is an example to walk you through the process.
Here’s what navigating a health event looks like for these Members:
The family ventures out for a hike one Saturday morning, and Dad takes a bad fall and hurts his knee. He’s in a good bit of pain, but it’s not an emergency, and it’s the weekend. Conveniently, he opens the CrowdCare app, logs a new health event, and requests a virtual urgent care appointment. The virtual doctor is available fast and, between a video evaluation and listening to Dad describe his symptoms, diagnoses a sprain.
The doctor writes a prescription for pain medication, so Dad goes to his neighborhood pharmacy and uses the CrowdCare prescription discount tool to get a great price. He shows his digital RX card and pays for the prescription at checkout. The virtual doc also recommends a follow-up appointment in person, so Dad contacts his Care Advocate, who helps him find a high-quality, fairly priced orthopedist in his area. When Dad arrives at his appointment, he lets them know he's a self-pay patient and pays for his visit at checkout.
Dad’s knee is starting to feel better as the swelling goes down, but the orthopedist says he’ll need a few sessions of physical therapy to be back to 100%. Dad gets a referral from his doctor for a highly-regarded PT and calls the office to ask for a cash pay estimate before he schedules. He sends the pricing to the Care Advocate, who confirms it’s a reasonable price for his care, then schedules the appointments he needs.
Four weeks later, he’s done with PT, and his knee is feeling great. He has scanned in the receipts for his prescription, orthopedist visits, and physical therapy sessions in the CrowdCare app. His bills totaled $725 for
the health event, so $225 (the event-related expenses beyond his initial $500 Member Commitment) is submitted for crowdfunding. Through the easy-to-use CrowdCare platform, with support from the Care Advocate, and thanks to the generous Member Community, Dad got the quality care he needed right when he needed it.
Caring Abundantly
When you join the Crowd, you’re there for your fellow Members in their time of need. And, when you help crowdfund other Members’ expenses each month, you’re supporting the very people who will step up for you when you have your own health events. We call it caring abundantly, and we believe it’s a beautiful thing. When we each give a little, we find there’s plenty for all.
Caring for You
As a Member of CrowdCare, you have access to the tools and support you need to lead the healthy, thriving lifestyle you desire.
We want to see the Crowd flourishing, meaning you receive the care you need without fear of how you’ll pay for it. CrowdCare takes the guesswork out of how healthcare gets funded, and our exceptional Care Advocates are here to help you every step of the way.
Caring for Your Family
Maternity and Newborn Care
Member maternity care that is eligible for crowdfunding includes your whole pregnancy through your baby’s birth and beyond. All three phases of pregnancy care (prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum) are represented in a single Global Pregnancy health event with a $3000 Member Commitment.
Your child’s standard newborn wellness care (birth until six months old) is a separate health event from maternity and is an eligible health event for the baby when added as a new Member within 30 days of birth. If your baby gets sick or has complications at birth, the illness or injury will be treated as a separate health event from this newborn wellness health event.
Please note that maternity expenses for a pregnancy with an expected delivery date less than 300 days after the mother’s Membership start date are not eligible for crowdfunding, and the baby cannot join the Crowd until two weeks of age. Pregnancies that are in question regarding this timeline may require a third-party clinical review before they are eligible for funding.
Adding Children by Birth
For pregnancies that are eligible for crowdfunding, your newborn must be added to your Membership within 30 days of birth for his/her health events to be eligible for funding retroactively, starting at the date of birth.
For pregnancies that are not eligible for crowdfunding, a baby may be added to your Membership at two weeks of age, effective at the start of the next billing cycle.
Please see “Maternity and Newborn Care” above for more on these health events.
Adding Children by Adoption
You may add an adopted child to your Membership within 30 days of their birth for health expenses to be eligible for funding retroactively, starting at the child’s birth date.
If you are unable to add them within 30 days of their birth, you can add them within 30 days of joining your family and their membership will begin at the start of your next billing cycle. Bills incurred prior to active membership will not be eligible for crowdfunding.
Adding Additional Family Members
The addition of family members (e.g. children over two weeks old, spouse, etc.) to a primary Member's account may be initiated at any time. These added Memberships will be active at the start of the next billing cycle.
Children’s Wellness Visits and Vaccinations
For children conceived and born or added to a family by adoption after one or both parents join CrowdCare, standard newborn wellness care (birth until six months old) is treated as one health event with one $500 initial Member Commitment. Existing children in a CrowdCare Member family are eligible for Membership after they turn two weeks old.
For children ages six months until three years, your child’s wellness checks are treated as a single health event with one $500 Member Commitment. Starting at age three, your child’s annual visits will be treated like basic annual Member wellness events. For Members of any age, all illnesses or injuries will be treated as separate health events from wellness visits.
Please note that you must utilize the Vaccines For Children (VFC) program or a similar community clinic/vaccine discount program in order for any expenses related to your child’s vaccinations to be eligible for crowdfunding. For more information on how to find a Vaccines for Children clinic in your area, contact a Care Advocate or visit this link: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines-for-children/vfc-information-for-parents/index.html
Caring for The CrowdCare Community
The CrowdCare Community is committed to crowdfunding the healthcare Members need without wasting funds on unnecessary or unproven treatments. This means some things, which are outlined in the table below, are not eligible for crowdfunding. To consistently offer the best care and support possible to the Crowd, we may still assist you in negotiating care that is not eligible for crowdfunding.
Dispute Resolution for Health Event Crowdfunding Eligibility
In the event of any disputes regarding the eligibility of a health event for crowdfunding, an independent third party will be hired to represent the Crowd. If necessary, a five-person panel, consisting of CrowdCare Members, will reassess the decision to ensure the Member Guide is being applied correctly. We trust that all members have each other's best interests at heart, and we are deeply grateful for the supportive Crowd we are building together.
Generally Excluded or Restricted Procedures and Treatments
To ensure the integrity of the CrowdCare system, some procedures and treatments may not be eligible for crowdfunding. Here’s a breakdown:
Alternative Therapies
- Holistic and Naturopathic Treatments: Must be performed by a licensed or board-certified medical professional whose credentials are recognized in the state where the treatment takes place. Prepayments for multi-visit memberships and treatment plans are not eligible. Only medically necessary treatments are covered. Non-FDA approved, experimental, or non-medically necessary treatments will undergo a Second Opinion Clinical Review for eligibility.
Therapies and Chiropractic Care
- Physical and Occupational Therapy: Not eligible unless prescribed by a doctor for a valid health event.
- Chiropractic Care: Eligible for musculoskeletal injuries, but a Second Opinion Clinical Review is required for care related to other medical issues.
Cosmetic Procedures
- Non-medically necessary cosmetic treatments such as breast implants, weight loss programs, hair loss treatments, or surgery (including prescriptions for such treatments) are excluded. This also applies to complications from ineligible treatments.
Mental Health
- Treatments such as ADD/ADHD management, counseling, outpatient psychiatric care, rehabilitation for addiction or eating disorders, and other similar services are not eligible, nor are complications arising from ineligible treatments.
Personally Assumed Risk
- Injuries or conditions caused by gross negligence, hazardous activities, or illegal acts are not covered. This includes injuries sustained during activities like extreme sports, drug/alcohol use, or self-inflicted harm.
Hazardous activities include, but are not limited to, skydiving, motorcycle racing, and dangerous stunts.
A third-party authority will decide if an activity is deemed hazardous.
In the spirit of CrowdCare, we aim to support members living healthy, active lives—not those engaging in reckless behavior (e.g., setting yourself on fire or swimming with sharks).
Prescriptions
- Certain prescriptions, such as experimental drugs, weight loss medications, or drugs purchased outside the CrowdCare discount program, are excluded from crowdfunding. Generic versions must be used when available, and complications from ineligible treatments are not covered.
Reproductive Health
- Services like adoption, abortion, contraceptives, IVF treatments, impotence treatments, gender reassignment procedures, and pre-existing pregnancy-related care are not eligible. This also includes complications from ineligible treatments.
Vision and Dental Care
- Routine dental and vision care (including braces, implants, wisdom teeth removal, etc.), as well as non-ophthalmologic eye care, are not eligible for crowdfunding unless part of a qualifying annual wellness event.
Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
- DMEs must be prescribed by a licensed medical professional and essential for treating the condition. Disposable DMEs are limited to a 120-day supply per health event, and maintenance or replacement equipment is generally not covered.
Other Exclusions
- Custodial care, euthanasia, over-the-counter medicines, medical marijuana, elective testing, and non-medically necessary treatments are excluded. Other non-essential services or complications from such treatments are also not eligible.
Previously Documented, Diagnosed, or Symptomatic Conditions
- Conditions previously diagnosed, documented, or symptomatic within five years of joining CrowdCare are subject to limited funding, starting in the third year of membership. The funding limit for these conditions is capped at $25,000 per year, starting in year three.
This applies to conditions such as asthma, congenital conditions (except for children joining at birth), heart conditions, and others. High cholesterol and high blood pressure are exceptions and are not subject to these limitations.
Additional Membership Information
Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC)
- CrowdCare is not insurance and does not fulfill the Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If you live in a state with an MEC mandate, such as California, Massachusetts, or New Jersey, you are responsible for securing additional coverage. If you already have MEC coverage, please use that for all eligible care before submitting any bills for crowdfunding.
Other Coverage
- Members are required to pursue payment from all applicable sources, such as car insurance, worker’s compensation, or government aid, before submitting any remaining medical bills for crowdfunding.
Taxes
- Your monthly membership fee and crowdfunding participation are voluntary and should not be considered insurance premiums or donations to a healthcare sharing ministry. These amounts are not tax-deductible. Please consult a tax professional for guidance.
Legal Action
- CrowdCare has the right to pursue legal action on your behalf if a provider bills an unfair amount and refuses to negotiate. This helps ensure that you don’t bear the burden of unreasonable medical costs.
Access to Your Health Records
- By joining CrowdCare, you consent to the sharing of relevant health information with CrowdCare and its partners, which may include diagnoses, prescriptions, and appointment details. This information helps us assist with care navigation and validate your medical bills. Failure to authorize access to your health records may delay or limit your care navigation or crowdfunding eligibility.
Thank you for being a part of CrowdCare and for your commitment to supporting fellow members. We strive to provide a transparent, caring environment where you can receive the help you need when facing a health event.
Protecting Your Personal Information
At CrowdCare, we prioritize the privacy of our members. We take every precaution to ensure that your personal and health information is kept secure and protected. To provide effective support for our services, we may request members to sign HIPAA authorization forms, which grant CrowdCare permission to access protected health information from specific medical providers.
Promotion Code
If you signed up for your Membership using a promotional code, please note that all the responsibilities outlined in this Member Guide still apply. Only one promotional code can be used per Member.
International Travel Policy
Please note that international care is not eligible for crowdfunding. This includes air ambulances, medical evacuations, and other medical services outside of the United States.
Clinical Review
CrowdCare works with trusted partners to provide clinical reviews for certain health events, such as surgeries and major treatments. These reviews help ensure the best possible outcomes at the most reasonable costs for our members. Our clinical review services include:
- Evaluating medical appropriateness
- Determining eligibility under the terms of the CrowdCare Membership
- Providing remote second opinions (RSOs)
If your health event is subject to a clinical review, the Care Advocacy team will notify you. Costs associated with clinical reviews are considered part of the health event and are eligible for crowdfunding.
Specialized Negotiation Support
CrowdCare may also engage trusted partners to negotiate on your behalf for certain health events. This service ensures that your bills are fair and reasonable, helping maximize the Crowd’s resources for everyone’s benefit.
Here’s how it works:
- Pre- and post-event negotiation services will be provided to ensure that the charges you incur are fair.
- If you agree to have CrowdCare assist in negotiations, you will be notified by the Care Advocacy team.
It’s your responsibility to respond promptly to any requests from CrowdCare or its negotiation partners. Failure to engage in the negotiation process or to accept reasonable discounts may result in the cancellation of your Membership and the loss of the negotiated discount.
In some rare cases, if a bill is paid and later negotiated to a lower amount, resulting in a refund, you must return any refunded money to the Crowd for redistribution.
The costs of negotiation services are also eligible for crowdfunding as part of your health event.
Missed Advocacy Fee Payments
To maintain an active CrowdCare Membership, you must keep your Monthly Advocacy Fee payments up to date. If a payment is missed, you will be notified, and your Membership will be suspended immediately. After 10 days of non-payment, your Membership will be terminated, subject to the cancellation terms outlined below.
Charge Disputes
Disputing fees after payment is processed can negatively affect the entire Community. If you dispute a payment through your bank or card provider without first contacting CrowdCare, your Membership will be terminated.
Canceling Your Membership
You can cancel your CrowdCare Membership at any time. Cancellations are effective at the end of your current billing cycle. To avoid being charged for the next month, you must cancel at least 10 days before your next billing date.
If you decide to cancel and later wish to rejoin, a minimum six-month (180 days) waiting period is required before your new Membership can begin.
Important: For your expenses to be eligible for crowdfunding, you must be an active Member at both the time the expense is incurred and when it is submitted for funding.
